| Amarina was born five and a half weeks early and was taken to the Royal Children's Hospital in Melbourne. Amarina has Microtia which is vertically cauliflower ear and has hearing loss |
| in both ears. She was born with Pierre Robins Sequence which meant that her lower jaw was recessed and it resulted in a wide Cleft Palate. |
|
She has a 3mm hole in one of the valves in the heart, and a 3mm dilated Aortic Root. She has Lower spine problems, 13 ribs on one side and 11 on the other, a small left Kidney and large |
| right Kidney. Her right hip socket is small, abnormal and pointing backwards so the right femur is sitting up in the muscle and is shorter than her left one which is normal size. |
| Her right leg is paralytic and has very limited movement from the knee down and she has very severe Club feet. We nearly lost her twice when she was 4 days old but she has continued to |
| fight. So far she has had her left foot fixed and has to wear a plastic mould (AFO) on it to keep it straight until the ligaments repair. She had her Cleft Palate repaired in December and it is |
| repairing nicely. |
| Her next major operation is for her right leg to be amputated as they can not do anything for it so then she can walk. They are looking at do that and then fitting her with a prosthetic leg and |
|
she should be able to walk unaided. Throughout all of this, it is very hard to not see a smile on her face. |
